WHAT IS ZED?

Zero Defect. Zero Effect.

ZED is an MSME-focused quality and sustainability certification journey designed to encourage better products, stronger processes, resource efficiency and responsible manufacturing.

Eligibility: MSMEs registered on the Udyam Registration portal are eligible to participate, subject to the applicable scheme requirements. The official process starts with the ZED Pledge and online application.

ZED Pledge

Take the ZED Pledge and begin the journey.

Select Level

Apply online for Bronze, Silver or Gold according to your readiness.

Undertaking & Information

Submit the required undertaking, business information and documents.

Preparation

Prepare the applicable evidence, records and implementation practices.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out according to the level and applicable process.

NC Closure

If non-conformities are identified, close them within the defined opportunity/time period.

07

Certification

Final certification is issued based on the findings and recommendation of the accredited assessment agency.

IMPORTANT FAQ

Common ZED questions

Is ZED mandatory?

No. The QCI ZED FAQ describes ZED certification as a voluntary scheme for eligible MSMEs.

Who conducts assessment?

Site assessments are allocated to assessment agencies accredited by QCI/NABCB as applicable under the scheme.

Does ZED replace ISO or legal compliance?

No. ZED is a process-oriented quality standard and does not replace other applicable regulations or certifications.

Can a unit upgrade?

Eligible MSMEs may upgrade their certification level before the existing certification expires, subject to the current scheme process.

What about Bronze surveillance?

The current QCI FAQ states there is no surveillance in Bronze; after expiry, the MSME may renew Bronze or upgrade to Silver/Gold.

Is handholding available?

The scheme includes gap analysis and handholding support through empanelled consulting organizations, subject to the scheme's conditions.

Why MSMEs pursue ZED

💰

Certification Subsidy

The scheme page states 80%, 60% and 50% subsidy rates for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises respectively, subject to applicable conditions.

Joining Reward

A ₹10,000 joining reward is listed for eligible MSMEs after taking the ZED Pledge, subject to the scheme's validity and conditions.

Women-Owned MSMEs

The ZED programme lists 100% subsidy support for ZED certification for eligible women-owned MSMEs under the applicable provisions.

Testing / Certification Support

Financial assistance for testing, management systems or product certification is listed up to 75% of cost, subject to a maximum ceiling of ₹50,000.

Credit & Finance Benefits

The ZED programme lists benefits and concessions offered by participating financial institutions and credit-guarantee provisions.
